As the foster parent of a special needs child, I am privileged and blessed to have Krista call me "Mommy". Fostering a child, particularly one that is so special, takes a great deal of love, empathy and willingness to share more than your home. In sharing my love, my life has been enriched. When Krista came to me, she was a shy, insecure little waif. She was abandoned by her mom when she was four years old. Krista was shuffled from home to home until she was eight years old. By the time I took this little girl into my home - and ultimately, my heart - her self confidence was virtually non-existent. It's amazing what love can do, because the transformation in Krista is remarkable. She's now self assured and eager to please. Foster parenting is a beautiful thing!
